Mary Elizabeth Hollowell “Teenie” Taylor, 86, formerly of Drum Hill Road, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 in Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Chowan County on May 1, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Bernice and Ica Byrum Hollowell. A homemaker, for many years she also owned and operated the Drum Hill Market. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Gay Taylor; and by a son-in-law, Nick Evans.
Surviving are her three daughters, Mary Gay Taylor Evans of Raleigh, Judy Taylor Brown and husband, Earl, of Waxhaw, and Ann Taylor Williams and husband, Lindsey, of Corapeake; a sister, Bernice Mathias of Corapeake; five grandchildren, Nicholas Evans, Beth King, Steven Brown (Amanda), Kathy Lethig, and Bryan Williams; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. A private burial will be in Parker’s United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Monday, and all other times at Ann and Lindsey’s home, 545 Daniels Road, Corapeake.
