Mary Helen Rountree Brinkley

   Mary Helen Rountree Brinkley, 80, of Suffolk, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in East Pavilion at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, VA.

   Mrs. Brinkley was born in Suffolk on February 23, 1938, and was the daughter of the late William Jackson and Bessie Luvenia Rountree. A retired Admissions Supervisor from Sentara Obici Hospital, she was a member of Somerton United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Filmore Brinkley; a sister, Emma Marie Bailey; and brothers, Henry, Tom, and Wade Rountree.

   Surviving are her two sons, W. Filmore Brinkley (Sheryl) of Suffolk, and J. Mark Brinkley (Betty) of Gates; three grandchildren, Amy Brinkley Lovett (Zack), Cory Brinkley (Anne), and Benjamin Brinkley-Adams (Josh); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Somerton United Methodist Church, and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Jack Meservey. A private burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service, and all other times at Filmore and Sheryl’s home, 2409 Pittmantown Road, Suffolk.
