Marvis Hobbs Hendrix

   Marvis Elaine Hobbs Hendrix, 89, of 3332 Virginia Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mrs. Hendrix was born in Norfolk, Virginia on July 24, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Wardell and Sybil Russell Hobbs. A retired teacher, she had worked in the Elizabeth City and Chowan County school systems, and taught Journalism and various courses in Business Administration. A faithful member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church, areas of service included the Adult Choir, the W.M.U., Hand Bells, the History Committee, and serving for many years as Church Clerk.

   Surviving are her husband of 65 years, J. Robert Hendrix; two daughters, Robin H. Small and husband, Chuck, of Zionville, and Jill H. King and husband, Woody, of Hobbsville; and two grandchildren, Natalie King Lusk and husband, Gray, of Los Angeles, CA, and Chase Small and wife, Taylor, of Concord.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Ron Parr. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
