Marvin Eugene “Gene” Baker, Jr., 77, of 20 Foxy Lane, Gates, NC, passed away into God’s arms on Friday, October 5, 2018 in his home, where he was surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Baker was born in Gates County on August 15, 1941, and was the son of the late Marvin Eugene, Sr. and Della Blanchard Baker. Retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in Suffolk, VA, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was known as “Falcon” by his hunting buddies at Drum Hill Hunt Club.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Vicky Leigh Jones Baker; his four daughters, Robin Baker Rawls and husband, Kevin, of Windsor, VA, Tiffany Finn of Gates, Brandy Hanus and husband, Bernie, of Texas, and Renee Thielemier and husband, Aaron, of South Carolina; his nine grandchildren, Brandon Clark, Morgan and Ashley Finn, Michael, James, and Megan Hanus, and Carter, Finley, and Anna Cecilia Thielemier.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Savage’s United Methodist Church, and will be conducted by Pastor Randy Bryant. Friends may join the family at the residence.
The family would like to express a special thanks to his nurse, Sabrina, with Albemarle Home Care and Hospice for the care and comfort provided their loved one.
