Mark Joseph Sclafani, 81, of Edenton, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Service League of Greenville Hospice House.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Mark was the husband of 60 years to Christine Mitsopoulos Sclafani and the son of Vincent Sclafani and Regina Loehr Sclafani, both deceased. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Sclafani.
Before moving to North Carolina, Mark worked as a plant manager in the textile industry on Long Island, New York. Aside from his love for family, his passion was playing guitar, including solo and group performances. He also loved fishing and woodworking. After moving to Edenton, North Carolina 32 years ago, he continued to play music and taught guitar to children and adults. Mark had a deep faith in the Catholic religion and attended St. Ann Catholic Church where he played guitar in the choir.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; daughter, Laura Scarlata and husband, Robert; sons, Andrew Sclafani and wife, Jeanine, and Matthew Sclafani and wife, Danielle; eight grandchildren, Robert Scarlata, Julia Scarlata, Amy Sclafani, Mark Sclafani, Claire Sclafani, Julianna Sclafani, Joey Sclafani, and Nathan Sclafani; great granddaughter, Valerie Scarlata; and sister, Joan Yanky.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church, 207 N. Broad Street, Edenton, NC 27932. The family will greet friends in the parrish hall, immediately following the mass
