Marjorie White Sawyer

   Marjorie Ellen White Sawyer, 93, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in her home where she was being cared for by family.

   Mrs. Sawyer was born in Currituck County on July 14, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Charles Felton White and Marjorie Lucille Cox White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Willoughby Sawyer; her daughter, Christine Sawyer (husband, William "Fish" Sawyer, deceased); her sister, Audrey Stover; her brother, Joseph White; and a great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Buckingham. A homemaker and retired seamstress, she was an active member of Berea Baptist Church, its T.E.L Women's Sunday School Class, and through the years had faithfully served the church in many ways and on various committees.

   A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, surviving is her daughter, Janet Sawyer of Elizabeth City; two sons, Steven Sawyer of Edgewood, NM and Eugene Sawyer (wife, Frederica) of Elizabeth City; a sister, Jean Glass of Cobbs Creek, VA; four grandchildren, Kelly Gallop (husband, Aron), Jeffrey Sawyer, Brandi Buckingham (husband, Josh), and Brooke Roundy (husband, Kimball); nine great-grandchildren, Christopher (companion, Kaitlyn), Noah, Anthony, Joshua, Mikayla, Zoie, Marinda, Tommy, and Adelaide; and three great-great-grandchildren, Braelynn, Camden, and Avery.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Berea Baptist Church, and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Jason Wise. Friends may visit with the family in the church immediately following the service on Saturday. A private burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
