Margie Ward Stallings

   Margie Ward Stallings, 90, of Virginia Beach, VA, and formerly of Belvidere, NC, died at home Saturday, December 9, 2023. Because of her faith, she is now in heaven with Jesus.

   Mrs. Stallings was born in Gates County, NC on June 12, 1933; the daughter of the late Julian and Beulah Nixon Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Clyde E. Stallings, grandson Jeffrey Stallings, sisters, Mary Ann Baker and Dorothy Stallings, and brothers, Melvin and Larry Ward.

   A long-time resident of Virginia Beach, she retired from Virginia National Bank. For many years she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Norfolk where she touched many lives by faithfully teaching children’s Sunday School. More recently she was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church in Hobbsville, NC, and later attended Bay Lake United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, where she enjoyed Bible study with the Friendship Class.

   Surviving is her son, Steve Stallings (Jeanette) of Virginia Beach; two granddaughters, Jennifer O’Neil (Tommy) of Chesapeake and Natalie Cheney (Dave) of Virginia Beach; six great-grandchildren, Thomas, Reese, David, Michael, Allie, and Grace; four brothers, Earl Ward of Hobbsville, Dr. Bobby Ward of Raleigh, Vernon Ward of Graham, and Roger Ward of Sunbury; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Cross Baptist Church, 956 Sandy Cross Road, Hobbsville, NC and will be conducted by the Rev. Vickie Woolard. Burial will follow at Up River Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a reception in the church social hall immediately following the graveside rites.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
