Margie T. Askew

 Margie Lee Terry Askew, 91, died Monday, June 17, 2024, in Sunset Care Home of Virginia Beach, VA.

 Mrs. Askew was born in Halifax County on February 1, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Eddie and Edna Barnes Terry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Spencer; brothers, Simon Barnes, Roger Terry, and Buck Terry; and by husband, Allston Bryant Askew.

 A homemaker, she was a longtime and faithful member of Winton Baptist Church where in years past she had been active in the W.M.U., her Sunday School class, and as a leader in the Vacation Bible School program.

 Surviving are her children, Barbara A. Whaley (husband, Richard) of Virginia Beach and Kenneth Bryant Askew (wife, Vera) of Raleigh; a sister, Edith Wheeler of South Carolina; and two grandsons, Todd Whaley (wife, Lisa) of Rocky Mount and Bryant Askew of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by her best friends from Brenda’s Hair Flair in Ahoskie---Brenda, Cheryl, and Jane, for the joy and friendship that she treasured.

 In accordance with her wishes, the family will be holding a private service where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved Allston in the Winton Baptist Church Cemetery.
