Margaret Hedgepeth Johnson

 Margaret Hedgepeth Johnson, 97, a longtime resident of Eure, NC, died on her birthday Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Gates Health and Rehabilitation, Gatesville.

 Mrs. Johnson was born in Gates County on November 12, 1927 and was the daughter of the late James George and Jacy Odell Eure Hedgepeth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, David Johnson; a sister, Dorothy Evans, and brothers, James Pollard Hedgepeth and Mills Vernon Hedgepeth.

 A loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, enthusiastic gardener, and dedicated homemaker, she was a lifelong member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.

 Surviving is her son, Carroll Johnson (wife, Ruth Ann) of Tyner; her daughter, Peggy Copeland of Edenton; a sister, Detra Rose of Durham; three granddaughters, Leslie Johnson of Tyner, April McNiff (husband, Kevin) of Franklin, and Amanda Copeland of Brooklyn, NY; and a grandson, Tony Johnson (fiancee, Jennifer Smith) of Edenton.

 Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastor Brandon Davis. Friends may visit with the family in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.

 The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Ferguson and the staff and caregivers at Gates Health and Rehabilitation for their loving care and dedicated support during her time in their facility.

 Memorial contributions, in her honor, may be made to the cemetery fund of Cool Spring Baptist Church, P.O. Box 10, Eure, NC 27935.
