Mae Evans Taylor

   Mae Evans Taylor, 92, of 1351 Highway 32 North, Corapeake, NC, died Monday, January 16, 2023, in her home where she was cared for by her family.

   Mrs. Taylor was born in Gates County on November 10, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Gulia Copeland Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Taylor; two sisters, Dorothy Appleberg and Hilda Ashby; and by her brothers, Lester, Lloyd, and Talmadge Evans.

   A homemaker, in earlier years she had served as the Assistant Postmistress of the Corapeake Post Office. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church.

   Surviving are her daughters, Angie Taylor Pinner of Creswell, Linda Taylor Christopher (husband, Neal, deceased) of Suffolk, VA, and Brenda Taylor Jordan (husband, Jerry, deceased) of Elizabeth City; her sister, Peggy Evans Scott of Suffolk; her brother, Roger Evans of Rileyville, VA; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Jordan, Amber Pinner, Heather Asbell, Shane Jordan, Stacey Jordan, Neal Christopher, and Ashley Pinner; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by her nephew, The Reverend Phil Taylor. A private burial will be in the Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home the hour prior to services.
