Mack Fletcher Brinkley, 90, of 4763 Carolina Road, Suffolk, VA, died Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Sentara Obici Hospital.
Mr. Brinkley was born in Nansemond County on November 17, 1933 and was the son of the late Elmer Carson Sr. and Eunice Virginia Horton Brinkley. Raised on the family farm with his sister, Betty Brinkley Parks, and brother, Elmer Carson Brinkley, Jr., he was a graduate of Whaleyville High School and later received his Associates in Electronics degree from Old Dominion University. Employed with Planters Peanuts in Suffolk in earlier years, he later worked and retired as a machinist with Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Eureka Baptist Church in Corapeake, NC.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Mary Rountree Brinkley; their twin daughters, Melanie Brinkley-Young (husband, David) of Aydlett, NC and Melinda Brinkley of Suffolk; and other extended members of both the Brinkley and Rountree families.
In accordance with his wishes, services will be private.
