Mabel Frances Daniels Doughtie, 85, of Eure Loop Road, Eure, NC, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022 in her son’s home in Eure.
Mrs. Doughtie was born in Gates County on December 16, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Doris Scott Daniels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Thomas “Sonny” Doughtie, Sr., sisters, Sally Thomas and Agnes Brett, and by brothers, Robert and Earl Daniels.
A homemaker, she had also been employed in the Nutrition and Food Service Department at Buckland Elementary School for many years. Among her many enjoyments included her love of flowers, gardening and horses. She grew up in the fellowship of Reynoldson Baptist Church.
Surviving is her son, Tommy Doughtie (Cheryl); and two grandchildren, Will Doughtie (Emma) and Bobbi Leigh Doughtie, all of Eure.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by the Rev. Wade Bennett. Burial will follow in Eure Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, or all others times at Tommy and Cheryl’s home, 3 Doughtie Lane, Eure.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Albemarle Home Care and Hospice for all the love and support provided to Mrs. Doughtie and the family during their time of need.
