Claudia Lucille Breedlove Phelps, 92, of Old US 17 North, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Edenton.
Mrs. Phelps was born in Morganton, NC on July 12, 1932, and was the daughter of the late John Herbert and Bessie Lois Snipes Breedlove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2021 by her husband of over 67 years, Charlie Jasper “Jack” Phelps; her sisters, Wilhelmina Cranford and Dean Burgess; and by her brother, Frank Breedlove.
A homemaker, Mrs. Phelps was a longtime and faithful member of Windsor Assembly of God and was proud of the heritage associated with her membership in the Century Farms of North Carolina.
Surviving are her children, Angela Daughtridge (husband, Douglas) of Wake Forest and Gary Phelps (wife, Clara) of Windsor; two grandchildren, Linda Barnes (husband, Marty) of Windsor and Daniel Daughtridge of Wake Forest; three great-grandchildren, Kyle Barnes (wife, Brianna) of Colerain, and Savannah Barnes and Lane Barnes, both of Windsor; and two great-great-grandchildren, Leo and Ella Barnes of Colerain.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 23rd, at 3:00 p.m. in Windsor Assembly of God and will be conducted by Pastor Chuck Gray. The burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the church the hour prior to services, or all other times at Gary and Clara’s home, 205 Castelloe Road, Windsor.
