Lois Parrish Owens

   Lois Parrish Owens, of 1002 Sound Shore Drive, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, following an extended illness.

   Lois was born in Henderson, NC, on March 6, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Lexi William and Blanche Hughes Parrish. Retired from Sprint Telephone after 30 years as the Business Office Manager, she was a member of Edenton United Methodist Church, and enjoyed her volunteer work at both Historic Edenton and the Vidant Chowan Hospital Gift Shop, and playing Bridge with her friends.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lexi William Parrish and his wife, Helen, of Virginia Beach, and George Stephen Parrish and his wife, Ann, of Oviedo, FL.

   Surviving is her husband, Nathan J. Owens. They married on June 20, 1948, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Also surviving is their son, Steven Owens and wife, Susan, of Durham; her aunt, Hazel Moore of Apex; and four nephews.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Christopher Aydlett. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, and all other times at the residence.

   The family asks that flowers be omitted, and contributions in her memory be made to the building fund of Edenton U.M.C., P.O. Box 37, Edenton, NC 27932.
