Lois Ann Kenoyer

Lois Ann Kenoyer, 92, of Danielle Drive, Elizabeth City, NC, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in her residence in Elizabeth City.

Mrs. Kenoyer was born in Nolan, West Virginia on July 2, 1931, and was the daughter and only child of the late Wilson Brooklyn Deskins and Opal Kessler Deskins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Myron Roy Kenoyer and Warren Gene Reynolds.

Mrs. Kenoyer was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) employed at multiple businesses and organizations, most recently at the University of Southern Indiana and George S. Olive CPAs, both organizations located in Evansville, IN. A community advocate at heart, she frequently provided accounting services, pro bono, to individuals and housing associations.

A devout Christian, she attended, or was a member of, various churches in West Virginia, Missouri, Indiana, Texas, and North Carolina. An accomplished musician, Mrs. Kenoyer often volunteered her service and talents to the Church as a pianist and organist.

Lois is lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her strength of character, perseverance, determination, and her ability to marshal on regardless of circumstance – these traits were patently evident even into her final days. She ordered her life and goals in accordance with the longer view; these qualities and characteristics served in her counsel and mentorship, particularly in her relationship with her sons, where she found the rare, balanced blend of parent and friend.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Lawrence Reynolds (Melody), Joel Crist Reynolds (Kerna), and Myron Roy Skipper Kenoyer; her grandsons, Jonathon Reynolds, Ian Reynolds, Evan Reynolds (Sharon Bettag Reynolds, Mother), and Cristopher Reynolds; granddaughters, Chrystie Milbradt Prater, Mercedes Milbradt, and Heather Milbradt. Of special note, we welcome Hugh and Nancy Gaddy into our family, and remain eternally grateful for the generous love, care, and home they provided Lois in her final years.

The family will hold a private memorial service in July.

Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements, and online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com.
