Linwood Earl Pearce

   Linwood Earl Pearce, US Army Retired, 81, of 1160 Willeyton Road, Gates, NC, died Thursday, June 27, 2019, in his home.

   Mr. Pearce was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on February 4, 1938, and was the son of the late Herbert, Sr. and Florrie Ruth Holland Pearce. A retired Staff Sergeant with the United States Army, he served for over 20 years, and saw action in Vietnam on two separate tours of duty, during 1967/68, and again in 1970/71. After his military career, he worked with the Public Works Center on Norfolk Naval Base and again retired after 20 years of employment. A proud veteran, he was a member of both the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division Associations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Pearce, Jr.; and his sister, Kay King.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 50 years, Christine Belcher Pearce; a daughter, Christy Pearce; a son, Timothy Pearce; a brother, Ray Pearce; and two grandsons, Cody and Christopher Blanchet.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by Pastors Jimmy Aleshire and Aaron Burgess. The committal service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA.

   Friends may visit with family in the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of services, or all other times at the residence.
