Lillie Hunter Ambrose

 Lillie Rebecca Hunter Ambrose, 85, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, in Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation.

 Ms. Ambrose was born in Perquimans County on October 24, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Abbott Shepherd Hunter and Lillie Harrell Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Boyce Pritchard (husband, Jim, deceased); a granddaughter, Blair Pritchard; sisters, Marie Leary and Elizabeth Roberson; and brothers, Ray, Marvin, Edward, Jimmy, and Pete Hunter.

 A retired restaurant manager, she was a member of New Day Church.

 Surviving are her four sons, Kenneth Ray Boyce, Tommy Ambrose (Stephanie), Dougie Ambrose (Pat), and Calvin Ives (Jennifer); 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by the Rev. Darryl Stallings. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

 The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and thanks to both the many staff members of Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation over these past few years and to Albemarle Hospice for the loving care and dedicated support provided to Ms. Ambrose during her time of need.
