Lee Allen “Mississippi” Redden, 73, of 96 White Oak Road, Eure, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, in his home.
Mr. Redden was born in Mississippi on August 11, 1945, and was the son of the late Evan and Suzie Edwards Redden. Retired from International Paper after 34 years of employment, he was a member of White Oak Hunt Club, the Sandbanks Hunt Club, the Roanoke-Chowan Bass Masters Fishing Club, and was active in the Gates County Chapter of Wounded Warriors. He had served in the Merchant Marines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lee Allen Redden, Jr.; two sisters, Frances Murphy and Betty Hall; and by three brothers, John Wayne, Jim, and Danny Redden.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Elaine Brimer Redden; two daughters, Tammy Buck and husband, Eugene, of Gates, and Tina Nixon and husband, Kirk, of Hertford; two sisters, Mary “Margie” Hamblin and Debbie Tarwaters; and three brothers, Jerry, Billy Ray, and Roger Redden, all of Tupelo, MS; six grandchildren, Trebor and Trace Buck, Taylor Gurganus and husband, Chad, Tanner Nixon and companion, Brett Forbes, and Temple and Trent Nixon; and two great-granddaughters, Talynn and Tinlee Gurganus.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Reynoldson Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Cody Brinkley. Visitation with the family will be in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, or all other times at Tammy and Eugene’s home, 175 Drum Hill Hunt Club Lane, Gates. A private burial will be in Eure Christian Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gates County Chapter of Wounded Warriors, Post Office Box 276, Gates, NC 27937, or to any Gates County organization.
