Kerri Lynn Turner Szymanski

   Kerri Lynn Turner Szymanski, 57, of 1530 Highway 37, Gatesville, NC, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. She was home, and surrounded by her friends and family.

   Born on July 6, 1964 (her father’s birthday), in Wyandot, Michigan, to Kathleen Anne Archibald and Carlos Don Turner, she was the oldest of their three children. The family then moved to Virginia where Kerri would spend most of her childhood years and into early adulthood.

   A nurturer who enjoyed taking care of others, it was natural that her career was that of Chief Cardiac Sonographer at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City. A lover of nature and animals, she was a wonderful artist and cook, loved her family with all her heart, and always saw the good in everyone.

   Preceded in death by her father, she is survived by her longtime significant other, Chris Bateman; her mother, Kathleen McPherson of Portsmouth, VA; daughters, Sarah Szymanski of Como, Melissa Szymanski (Rachel) of Suffolk, VA, and Jamie Szymanski of Greenville; grandsons, Jaylen and Caleb Grant; sister, Teresa Rowe (Jerry Whitehead) of Taylor, MI; and brother, Joey (Tory) Turner of Poulsbo, WA. Also surviving is Donald Szymanski, (her former husband and the father of her daughters); and her two best friends, Debra Spivey and Audrey Woosley.

   A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Sunday, November 28^th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by the Rev. Bryant Perry.
