Keith Horace Ward, 87, of 104 Mohave Trail, died Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Ward was born in Tyrrell County on January 15, 1934, and was the son of the late Louis A. and Clare Belle Gibbs Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Virginia “Ginny” Garcia; sisters, Hilda Walker and Herlon Lassiter; a brother, Grady Ward; and by a grandson, Larry.
A retired sales representative with BIC Pen Company, he was a member of Primitive Baptist Church in Belhaven. Other memberships enjoyed were his serving as President of the Shrine Motor Patrol, and as President of the Virginia Country Music Association. A veteran, as a member of the US Army Drill Team, a “claim to fame” moment he was proud of was appearing with the team on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1956.
Surviving are three daughters, Scheryl Chadwick (Gary Szymanski), Kimberly Hope Ward, and Connie Raby (Tom); two grandsons, David and Tommy; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In accordance with his wishes, services will be private.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to his many caregivers who have shown so much love and kindness while they cared for Mr. Ward over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Meals on Wheels, in care of Albemarle Commission Senior Nutrition, 220 D. Ocean Hwy S., Hertford, NC 27944.
