Kathryne Ann Ward Winslow, of 1584 County Line Road, Belvidere, NC, went peacefully to be with the Lord at 7:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2018, with her husband and children by her side.
Kathryne was born January 11. 1936 to Charles R. and Lula Mae Mansfield Ward of Hertford. She was a longtime legal assistant with O. C. Abbott in Elizabeth City and owned and operated Queen Anne’s Gift’s and Crafts in Elizabeth City for several years before retiring. A member of Bethel Baptist Church, through the years she had served on various committees.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Lawrence N. Winslow of Belvidere; her daughter, Jenny Powell (Leroy) of Camden; sons, Richard Winslow (Charmayne) of Summerville, SC, Jeffrey Winslow (Lorie) of Elizabeth City, and Randy Winslow (Paige) of Hillsborough; her six grandchildren, Lee Powell, Mark Powell, and Brent Powell, Jessi Spear, Zach Winslow, and Randy Winslow, Jr.; and six great-grandchildren, Grayden, Sudie, Ellis, and Nola Powell, and Joseph and Ella Spear. Also surviving are her brothers, Tom Ward (Margie) of Sunbury, Jim Ward (Betty) of Edenton, and Wayne Ward (Sherry) of Hertford; a sister, Mary Lee Willis of Windsor, VA; and sister in law, Gloria Ashley of Edenton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Henry and John Richard "Pete" Ward; a sister-in-law, Alice Jeanne Ward; and a brother-in-law, Larry Willis.
She enjoyed traveling with her brothers Charles and Pete to the Great American Auto Race, traveling to many parts of the US and Canada, NASCAR Racing, Carolina Basketball and country music.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by the Rev. Howard Sutton. A private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home, and all other times at the residence.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Vidant Chowan Hospital for the compassion and devotion shown to her and her family.
