Kathleen Mathias Wiggins

   Kathleen Mathias Wiggins, 101, of 762 Acorn Hill Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Monday, April 24, 2023 in Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation.

   Mrs. Wiggins was born in Gates County on April 19, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Algie R. and Florence Brinkley Mathias. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gelon S. Wiggins, Sr.; a son, Alvah Roy Wiggins; a sister, Naomi Lazzaro; and brothers, A.R., Thomas, and Bobby Mathias.

   A homemaker, Mrs. Wiggins was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church.

   Surviving are three sons, Donald Wiggins (wife, Kathy) of Moline, IL, G.S. Wiggins, Jr. (wife, Penny) of Hobbsville, and Rickie Wiggins (wife, Nell) of Gates; her daughter-in-law, Judy Wiggins of Edenton; her sister, Nancy Bunch of Suffolk, VA; two granddaughters, Krystle Williams (husband, Jason) and Grace Wiggins (fiancé, Darrell Pease); two great-grandsons, Jake and Hunter Williams; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members of both the Mathias and Wiggins families.

   In accordance with her wishes, a private service is planned. Friends may visit with the family at the residence.
