Katherine Sawyer Chesson

   Katherine Sawyer Chesson, 80, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Hertford, NC, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023 in ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mrs. Chesson was born in Perquimans County on May 20, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Nathan and Geneva Landing Sawyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Luther Gray Chesson; and by her sisters, Pam Lassiter, Ann Jordan, and Mary Alice Davis.

   Retired from Tarheel Internal Medicine Associates, Mrs. Chesson was a member of Hertford Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher.

   Surviving are her children, Gray Chesson of Fredericksburg, VA and Karen Castelloe (husband, Scott) of Edenton; a grandson, Andrew White (wife, Michelle); and a great-granddaughter, Harvest White.

   In accordance with her wishes, a private graveside service is planned.

   It is asked that flowers be omitted, and memorial contributions be made to Hertford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 34, Hertford, NC 27944.
