Karen Small Fleetwood

   Karen Ruth Small Fleetwood, 63, of 118 Cove Drive, Edenton, NC, died Monday, February 24, 2020, in her home where she was being cared for by her family.

   Karen was born in Chowan County on December 2, 1956, and was the daughter of the late Claude Ernest Small, Sr. and Dorothy Evans Small. A retired Social Worker with Vidant Chowan Hospital, she was a member of Edenton Baptist Church.

   Surviving are her husband of 40 years, James Allison “Jimmy” Fleetwood; her daughter, Allison Fleetwood Cleve and husband, Justin, of Swansboro; her son, Chad Evans Fleetwood and wife, Shirley, of Clayton; her sister, Sheila Bootwright of Edenton; her brothers, C.E. Small, Jr. of Greenville and Mark Small of Edenton. Also surviving are three grandchildren who loved their “Mimi”, Dalton Evans Fleetwood, Aiden Wayne Fleetwood, and Madeline Baye Cleve.

   Following a private family graveside service in Beaver Hill Cemetery, a service celebrating her life will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Edenton Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. David Brooks. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the service.
