June Vooght Christian Tuttle, 89, of Midlothian, VA, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2022.
She was preceded in death on Christmas morning by her beloved husband, John. In addition to John, she was preceded in death by her parents Robert Meade Christian and Mary Clampitt Christian.
Surviving are her three daughters Chris Mokan (Lenny) of Bluffton, SC, Ashley Johnson (Walt) of Midlothian, VA, and Mary Wolfe (Mike) of Edenton, NC; grandchildren, Steven Mokan (Sarah), Ashley Abrams (Alan), Kyle Johnson (Amanda), Ryan Johnson, and Tyler Johnson; great grandchildren; Ellie Abrams, Vivian Johnson and Sutton Johnson; brother Meade Christian (Betsey); niece Anne Catherine Murray (Jeb) and nephews Brit Christian (Mary) and Rob Christian (Jenny).
June was an alumna of the class of 1949 of Thomas Jefferson High School and a graduate of Mary Washington College where she was a member of Alpha Psi Omega and Mu Phi Epsilon. She began a career in teaching but was asked to resign upon sharing the exciting news that she was expecting her first child. Following the birth of her three daughters, she found her passion in serving a variety of community organizations. She served as a Tobacco Festival Hostess in 1966, was a member of the Brook Run Junior Women’s Club, a member and President of the Monacan Junior Women’s Club, charter member and President of the Huguenot Women’s Club, and a member of the Tuckahoe Women’s Club. A volunteer at Children’s Hospital of Richmond for over 50 years, she served as President of both the Junior and Senior Boards and managed the Sunshine Gift Shop. She was an avid lover of tennis and bridge, and forged lifelong friendships through each.
June was a member of Manakin Episcopal Church where she shared her love of arranging flowers as a devoted member of the Altar Guild.
A memorial service for both June and John will be held on Saturday, March 19th, at 11:00 a.m. in Manakin Episcopal Church with a reception following in Denny Hall.
