Joyce Proctor Stallings

   Joyce Proctor Stallings, 77, of 1265 Campground Road, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 in her home where she was being cared for by family.

   Mrs. Stallings was born in Perquimans County on December 6, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward, Sr. and Sybil Byrum Proctor. A retired customer service representative from Sprint, she was raised in the fellowship of Bethel Baptist Church. Other enjoyments included her love of horticulture and she enjoyed membership in the Master Gardener Society.

   Among her survivors include her husband of over 20 years, Donald W. "Don" Stallings; a daughter, Carolyn Dawn Bray (her daughter, Ashley Bray) of Anchorage, AK; a son, Eddie Bray (his wife, Lauran, and their children, Alden and Gibson Bray) of Fayetteville; and a step-daughter, Tonya Stallings Jennings (her daughter, Sylvia Kay Jennings) of Elizabeth City.

   Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Sunday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.

   A private funeral service will be held in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 794 Burnt Mill Road, Hertford, NC 27944 or to Newland United Methodist Church, in care of Jimmy Pike, 955 Hall's Creek Road, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
