Joyce Spruill Bell

   Joyce Spruill Bell, 72, of 112 Ridge Road, died Monday, July 4, 2022 in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

   Mrs. Bell was born in Tyrrell County on January 3, 1950, and was the daughter of the late Elwood and Emily Adine Clifton Spruill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James “Dick” Spruill.

   Retired as an Assistant Teacher in the Chesapeake Virginia Public School System, she was a faithful member of Avalon Church of Christ in Virginia Beach.

   Surviving is her husband of 18 years, John R. Bell, Jr.; two sons, Brad Turgeon of Chesapeake and Patrick Turgeon (wife, Manda) of Newport News; and a brother, Ronald Spruill of Plymouth. Also surviving is John’s daughter, Angela Taylor (husband, Larry) of Virginia Beach. Together Joyce and John shared six grandchildren.

   A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 23^rd, at 1:00 p.m. in Avalon Church of Christ, 844 Woodstock Road, Virginia Beach. The burial will be at a later time in the Scuppernong Church of Christ Cemetery in Creswell, where she will be placed with her parents.
