Melvin Joseph “Joe” Boyce, 71, of 1706F West Queen Street, Edenton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, in Chowan River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Boyce was born in Perquimans County on February 25, 1947, and was the son of the late Jepty and Martha Trueblood Boyce. A former long distance driver for Green Arrow Transport Corp., he later worked for many years as a Shear Operator with United Piece & Dye Works.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother; a sister, Helen Smith; and by a granddaughter, Hailey Nixon.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Debra Koraska Boyce; and two sisters, Myrtle Enfield of Edenton and Arlene Knight of Merritt Island, FL. Also surviving are Debra’s sons, Steven Ray Nixon and wife, Ashley, of Belvidere, and Michael J. Nixon and wife, Suzie, of Edenton. Together Joe and Debra shared three grandchildren, Briana, Grayson, and Gavin. Joe also leaves behind his fur babies, Dixie and Niko.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Donald Sawyer. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home the hour prior to services.
