John Christopher Meiners, Sr.

   John Christopher Meiners, Sr., 78, of 405 Dogwood Drive, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, July 20, 2023 in his home.

   Mr. Meiners was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on July 24, 1944, and was the son of the late John Henry Meiners and Jane Smith Meiners Evans.

   The retired Substance Abuse Director for both the Pasquotank Correctional Institute and the Tyrrell County Correctional Work Farm, he was Episcopalian by faith and had served in the United States Marine Corps.

   Surviving is his wife of 23 years, Arlene Page Meiners; two sons, John Christopher Meiners, Jr. (wife, Ingrid) and James Edward Meiners, both of Canton, Georgia; his sister, Mary Jane Payne of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service is being planned for a later time and when finalized, those arrangements will be updated to this website obituary.
