John Carroll Lassiter

 John Carroll Lassiter, 86, of Highway 158 East, died Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Gates Health & Rehabilitation, Gatesville.

 Mr. Lassiter was born in Gates County on June 5, 1938, and was the son of the late William Herbert and Dolna Harrell Lassiter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Elizabeth Lassiter, Margaret Hires, and Dorothy Carter, and by brothers, Fred, Billy, and Edward Lassiter.

 Retired from International Paper (formerly Union Camp Corp.) in Franklin, VA where he worked for 35 years, he also worked on the family farm with his brothers as long as their health permitted. He was a faithful member of Damascus Christian Church.

 Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Norma Lassiter and Evelyn Lassiter, both of Sunbury; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

 Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 12th, at 2:00 p.m. in Damascus Christian Church and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. Mark Weathington. The private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the fellowship hall immediately following the service.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
