John Burton Cutter, 79, of 106 Mark Drive, Edenton, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019, in his home.
Mr. Cutter was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 20, 1939, and was the son of the late Freeman and Margaret Odom Cutter. Retired from the banking industry after 27 years, he then became a Real Estate Broker and served clients for 12 years in that profession, first with Top Sale Realty, later ERA All Seasons Realty, and finally with his own firm, The Cutter’s Edge Realty.
Community involvement included his being Executive Director of the Chowan Regional Health Care Foundation, Director of the Annual Fund at Chowan College, fundraising activities with the American Heart Association for 14 northeastern NC counties, serving as a commissioner with the Norfolk, VA Port & Industrial Authority, past member of the Kiwanis, Lions, and Jaycees, ODU Alumni Association, and the Edenton Rotary Club.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Anne Stewart Dodd Cutter; three sons, Michael F. Cutter and wife, Amy, of Norfolk, VA, Mark B. Cutter of Greensboro, NC, and J. David Cutter and wife, Rebecca, of Christiansburg, VA; a step-daughter, Richele Ann Todd of Edenton; a sister, Anne Virginia Cutter Smith of Florence, AL; and four grandchildren.
In accordance with his wishes, a private family service will be held.
