John Frederick Aldridge, Sr.

   John Frederick Aldridge, Sr., 60, of 232 Riverlane Road, Jarvisburg, NC, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

   Mr. Aldridge was born in Lyons, NY on February 21, 1963, and was the son of Frederick O. Aldridge of Virginia Beach, VA and the late Shirley Marie Morey Aldridge. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Ollie and Margaret Aldridge, maternal grandparents, Adelbert and Lillian Morey, and his sister, Teresa Aldridge Bland.

   A First Class Welder and Pipefitter with Colonnas Shipyard where he had been employed for many years, he loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed both racing his truck “Mudd Puppy” and riding his Harley Davidson.

   Surviving along with his father are his sons, Michael J. Turner (wife, Amanda) of Jarvisburg and John F. Aldridge, Jr. (Ann-Marie Raper) of Norfolk, VA; four granddaughters, Amanda Abell (husband, Xach), Rose Harris, Ava Aldridge and Bailey Aldridge; four great-grandchildren, Ean Fitzgerald, Aden, Bentley, and Aurora Abell; a brother, Frederick O. Aldridge, Jr.; and four sisters, Crystal Horne, Tina Oliver, and Deanna and Darlene Price.

   A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Currituck Farm Market, 6032 Caratoke Hwy, Poplar Branch, NC. A “last ride” will be on Saturday, July 22, 2023 starting at his home on Riverlane Road- kick stands up at 9:00 a.m.
