Joe Thomas Woodley, Jr.

   Joe Thomas Woodley, Jr., 68, of 1649 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, April 4, 2020 in his home.

   Mr. Woodley was born in Tyrrell County on February 8, 1952, and was the son of the late Joe Thomas Woodley, Sr. and Marie Phelps Woodley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Della; and by his brothers, Floyd and Steven.

   A former driver in long distance freight transport, he was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Marine Corps from 1972-74. He was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hertford.

   Surviving are two daughters, Amanda Woodley Douglas, and Heather Woodley Smith and husband, Jason, all of Rockingham; a son, Eric Fooks and wife, Retha, of Edenton; a sister, Glenda Barnes of Creswell; and 11 grandchildren.

   In accordance with his wishes, no service is being held.
