Joan LeHouillier Williams, 87, of 201 Gates Forest Road, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from her home.
Mrs. Williams was born in Bristol County, Massachusetts on January 8, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Homer and Debrah Campbell Caswell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Duvall Williams, her son, David Williams, sisters Janet and Nancy, and by brothers, Larry and Kenny.
A homemaker and Navy wife to her late husband, in earlier years she had worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in the Dry-Cleaning industry in Rhode Island. Since moving to Gates County, she had become a member of Damascus Christian Church in Sunbury.
Surviving is her son, Michael Williams (wife, Regina); her daughter-in-law, Donna Williams; five grandchildren, Brian Williams, Steven Williams, Darlene Williams, Kimberly Linares (husband, Raul), and Emmanuel Williams; and eight great-grandchildren, Autum Fuller, Jewelissa King, Elijah Fuller, Caleb Brown, Mila Brown, Jace Fuller, Zoe Brown, and Alexa Williams.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 10th, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Mark Weathington. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, or other times at the residence. The burial, with her husband, will be held at a later time in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
