Jimmy Carroll Bass

   Jimmy Carroll Bass, 75, of Sanford, NC, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 26, 2024.

   Born on July 4, 1948, he was the son of the late Clemon and Maude Bass of Edenton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elton Bass.

   Retired after 25 years with the Edenton-Chowan School System where he was a Woodshop teacher, he later moved to Sanford where he worked as the manager for Ole Gilliam Mill Park. His love of woodworking continued even in retirement, and he continued to work on projects and furniture making. Another love of his was cooking and barbecuing and sharing his bounty with friends in the community.

   Jimmy Carroll had served in the NC National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Riders, Post 40. Community service included his volunteer work with the Pocket Fire Department, Lee County, #9.

   Surviving are his sons, J.C. Bass and James Bass (wife, Heather); grandchildren, Gretchen, Alexandria, and Tucker; sisters, Catherine, and Doris; brother, Ron; and sister-in-law, Bonnie.

   A Celebration of his life will be planned for a later date.
