James Philip “Jim” Aylesworth, 81, of 314 Oneida Trail, Edenton, NC, died Monday, December 28, 2020, in his home.
Mr. Aylesworth was born in Meshoppen, PA on April 30, 1939, and was the son of the late Charles Philip and Alida Lavina Storey Aylesworth. Retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, he later worked part-time at the Evans Church Site of the Chowan County Recycle Centers. An avid Edenton Steamers fan and supporter, he was a charter member of the Chowan-Edenton Optimist Club, and was a past Commander of the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of the American Legion. A veteran of the Vietnam War era, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dolores Basnight Aylesworth; two daughters, Vicky Aylesworth Piles and husband, Andree, of Edenton, and Callie Alida Aylesworth of West Jefferson; a son, James Charles Aylesworth and wife, Tabitha, of Melbourne, FL; two sisters, Phyllis Hughes and husband, Brett, of Laceyville, PA, and Carol Aylesworth of Edenton; a brother, Thomas Aylesworth of Rochester, NY; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild due to be born in June.
In accordance with his wishes, no service is planned.
The family will receive friends at Vicky and Andree’s home, 110 Chickasaw Trail, Edenton, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. With concerns associated with Covid-19, masks and social distancing guidelines are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Wounded Veterans, at www.woundedvets.org.
