Jessie Horace Baker, 79, of Hertford, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, in Edenton Primetime Retirement Center, Edenton.
Mr. Baker was born in Perquimans County on April 18, 1945, and was the son of the late Garland White Baker, Sr. and Sarah Anne Hurdle Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Garland W. “Dickie” Baker, Jr. and William A. “Billy” Baker.
A retired clerk from Outer Banks Fishing Unlimited, he loved to fish and was a master woodcrafter. He was an Army veteran of 12 years, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Surviving are his two sisters, Sally Ann Baker of Edgewood, MD and Donna Baker Harris of Hertford; one nephew and six nieces.
At his request, no services will be held. The family would like to thank the very kind and loving staff at Edenton Primetime for the care, concern and love they showed to “Jessie-Wessie” during his stay with them. He also loved them.
Special thanks is also extended to the Amedisys Hospice Care team for coming along side the staff at Edenton Primetime to provide an extra level of care in the final months of Jessie’s life. They provided an additional level of care and love to Jessie.
