Jesse Earl Smith, Jr.

   Jesse Earl Smith, Jr., 72, of 450 Reynoldson Road, Gates, NC, died Tuesday, October 23, 2018, in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   Mr. Smith was born in Phoebus, VA on March 11, 1946, and was the son of the late Jesse Earl, Sr. and Lillian Johnson Smith. A retired mechanic, he was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church. Having lived in Gates County for 30 years, he loved the people, peacefulness, and quiet nature the county offered. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriet and Janet Smith, and by a brother, Jimmy Smith.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 32 years, Mary Kathleen Feher Smith; two daughters, Tammy Pucket of Grants Pass, OR and Jennifer Smith of Gates; four sons, Paul Smith of Suffolk, VA, Joshua Smith, Jacob Smith and wife, Nikki, and Joel Smith, all of Gates; a sister, Marti Lowrie of Hampton, VA; a brother, Steve Smith of Eure; four grandchildren, Serenity, Steven, Vanessa, and William; and five great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10^th, at 11:00 a.m., in Reynoldson Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Cody Brinkley. Visitation with the family will be in the social hall of the church immediately following the service.
