Jerry Cale Ward, 70, of 4116 Virginia Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Ward, a lifelong resident of Chowan County, was born on August 16, 1950, and was the son of the late Edward Cale and Beatrice Elizabeth Byrum Ward. A retired driver, he had worked with C.A. Perry & Son for 14 years, and later with Estes Express Lines for 29 years. A member of Warwick Baptist Church and a former member of the Gliden Volunteer Fire Department, another area of enjoyment was his love of riding motorcycles.
Surviving are two sons, Jonathan Cale Ward (wife, Tricia), and Jody Vann Ward (wife, Amanda), all of Tyner; a sister, Phyllis Harrell (husband, Keith) of Edenton; a brother, Ferma Ward of Tyner; seven grandchildren, Haigen, Hudsen, Holten, Jayce, Whitney, Dylan (wife, Alissa, and their daughter Tinsley), and Nicole (fiancé, Josh); and two nephews, Chris Harrell, and Shane Harrell (wife, Taylor, and their son Colt).
A memorial service will be held Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. Kip Vinson. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, or at the residence both Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Warwick Baptist Church, in care of Cindy Harrell, 433 Gliden Road, Hobbsville, NC 27946.
