Jerry Lee Hollowell

   Jerry Lee Hollowell, 76, of Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 in Hertford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

   Mr. Hollowell was born in Perquimans County on June 18, 1947, and was the son of the late Willie Franklin Hollowell and Nannie Elizabeth Umphlett Hollowell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Annie Mae Hollowell, and by brothers, Clifton Hollowell, Thomas Franklin Hollowell (wife, Vera, deceased), and Willie Jay Hollowell.

   A lifelong farmer, in later years he was employed with the Waste Industries Recycling Center at the Hwy 17 North location. He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

   Surviving is his sister-in-law, JoAnne Hollowell; three nieces, Mary Hollowell, Laura Hollowell, and Bonnie Whitehurst; a nephew, Wayne Hollowell; and dear friend, Mike Rucker.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford. A private burial will follow in the Hollowell Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home the hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
