Jeffrey Alan Wilke

   Jeffrey Alan “Jeff” Wilke, 62, of 118 Pirate Landing, Hertford, NC, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

   Mr. Wilke was born in Michigan City, IN on November 11, 1960, and was the son of the late Jack and Arlene Rempala Wilke. A veteran, he retired as a Petty Officer from the Navy having proudly served for a total of 17 years. Following his military career he was employed as a meat cutter with Edwards Meats in Colorado. An avid animal lover, he was a member of Disabled American Veterans.

   Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Vickie Mcpherson Wilke; a step-son, Charlie Pierce of Hertford; a sister, Melissa Matthews of Moyock; two brothers, Steve Wilke of Virginia Beach, VA and Kenny Wilke of Knox, IN; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 11, at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, and will be conducted by Pastor Jay Rivenbark. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, or to a local animal shelter of one’s choice.
