Jeanette Nixon Baker, 77, of Edenton, NC, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024 in Three Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center, Windsor.
Mrs. Baker was born in Chowan County on December 21, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Ellie Edward and Lessie Bunch Nixon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lloyd Baker and by her son, Sterling David Baker.
A graduate of Chowan High School, Mrs. Baker received a business certification from College of The Albemarle. Retired as a Processing Assistant from the N.C. Department of Transportation, she was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church and its Mary Long Sunday School Class. Other memberships enjoyed included both the former Chapter of The Order of The Eastern Star and as a charter member of the former Chowan Shrinette Club. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed watching any type of cooking show.
Surviving is her daughter, Heather Baker Koon (Jon Creef); a grandson, Logan Koon, both of Clayton; daughter-in-law, Liz Baker of Edenton; and other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Matthew Dupuy. A private burial will be in the Nixon Family Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service.
