Jean Dillard Simon

   Jean Ruby Dillard Simon, 81, of 625-B Sandy Ridge Road, Tyner, NC, died Thursday, December 24, 2020 in Martin General Hospital, Williamston.

   Mrs. Simon was born in Chowan County on October 17, 1939, and was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Hoggard Dillard. A homemaker and mother to seven children, she had worked as a private duty caregiver for the elderly. As long as health permitted, she was a faithful member of Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Juby Simon, Sr.; a son, William Thomas Dillard, II; two brothers, William and Johnnie Dillard; and a son-in-law, Raymond Griffin.

   Surviving are four daughters, Annette Simon and Jacqualina Simon, both of Eastover, SC, Suzette Simon Sligh (husband, George) of Columbia, SC, and Lottie Griffin of Tyner; two sons, Harmon J. Simon, Jr. (wife, Renee`) of Columbia, SC, and Darnell Simon of Eastover, SC; a sister, Rosa McNeil (husband, Lory) of Wilson; two brothers, Charlie Ray Dillard (wife, Lenora) of Cambria Heights, NY and Jerry Dillard (wife, Brenda) of Belvidere; a sister-in-law, Delores Dillard of Tyner; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the outdoor Tabernacle of Happy Home Church and will be officiated by Apostle Lewis Fisher, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
