Jean Caradonna Miller

Jean Caradonna Miller passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Vidant Chowan Hospital in Edenton, NC.

Born on April 27, 1925 in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late Nicolo and Maria Scaturra Caradonna.  As the youngest of eight children, she grew up on the family farm in Haverhill, where they raised vegetables in a 75 acre garden and sold them at Quincy Market in Boston.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Rocco Caradonna, Lena Taylor, Anthony Caradonna, Joseph Caradonna, Beatrice Caradonna, Margaret Grabiec, and Paul Caradonna.

Jean is survived by three of her four children, Maureen McGrath, Sherry Miller and Richard Miller, and was preceded in death by her son, Michael McGrath; four of her five grandchildren, Christopher Schiavoni, Holly Schiavoni, Jon Caron, Renee Caron, and was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jasmyn Schiavoni; four great-grandchildren, Madison (Ted McGrath) Schiavoni, Deja Litchfield, Keira Schiavoni and Lillian Raine Wall.

Jean was a hard working single mother.  For 25 years she was a layout operator at Western Electric in Andover, MA, where she was in charge of a unit that made ceramic electronic parts. Western Electric sent her to Chicago for training to make the parts in a clean room back in Andover.  She was very proud of her accomplishment and received many accolades for her work.

She was also preceded in death by her ex-husband, Arthur McGrath, and is also survived by her ex-husband, Leo Miller, with whom she reconnected three years ago after 40 years and joined him in Edenton, NC to live.  She was the “love of his life” and was so happy to spend her remaining years with him in NC.  He was by her side until the end.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Vidant Chowan Hospital for taking such excellent care of Jean while she was there.

Due to Covid-19 the family regrets that traditional services will not be held.  A private celebration will be held at the graveside in Merrimac, MA at a later date when it is safe to gather together.
