Jean Jordan Forbes

   Jean Jordan Forbes, 85, of 408 North Sandy Hook Road, Shawboro, NC, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in her home.

   A native of Camden County, she was born on October 25, 1932 and was the daughter of the late William Parsons and Sophie Berry Jordan. Retired from Western Steer in Elizabeth City, she had been active with the Camden Senior Center and enjoyed square dancing. A member of Shiloh Baptist Church where as a child she had sung in the youth choir, she was a faithful servant, and was often heard expressing her love of the Lord by praying and singing until her final days on this earth.

   Surviving are her three daughters, Carla Whitehurst of Morrisville, Joyce Ward and husband, Sonny, and Brenda Berry and husband, W.R., all of Shawboro; a son, David Forbes and wife, Goldie, of Kitty Hawk; five grandchildren, Ashley Whitehurst of Atlanta, GA, Tabitha Cruise of Camden, Lauren Forbes of Greenville, Brett Forbes of Camden, and Parker Berry of Shawboro; a great-granddaughter, Justine Renee Cruise of Camden; a special sister-in-law, Dot Forbes; a special nephew, Howard Jones; and several other nieces, nephews and extended family.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Brandon Whitehurst; two sisters, Myrtle Copeland and Gertrude Jones; and by five brothers, Elwood, Alton, George, Monford, and Dewey Jordan.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Shiloh Baptist Church, 952 NC Hwy 343 South, Shiloh, and will be conducted by Pastors John Luton and Billy Royal. Burial will follow in Highland Park Cemetery in Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Saturday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the church.

   The family wishes to express their thanks to her caregivers, Lynn Sava, JoAnn Mikel, Janice Dance, Sheila Phelan, and Susan Hicks for the love and care given to them during their time of need. Also, they want to thank Dr. Susan Ziglar and her nurse, Christy, of Currituck Internal Medicine for their outstanding care in providing for their every need.
