Jason Wade Collier, age 57, of Merry Hill, NC, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 in his home with family and friends at his side. Jason, a resident of Bertie County since 2014, was born on December 17, 1963 at the naval hospital in Millington, Tennessee.
Growing up Jason lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, and the island territory of Guam. He graduated from Clear Lake High School. An accomplished athlete, Jason was a unanimous all district selection in football. Jason was later a member of the Portland State University football team. Professionally, Jason spent the majority of his career primarily in large building commercial construction. Later, he obtained his Commercial Driver license and was employed as a professional driver for AA Hauling. He was known for his pride in his truck’s appearance and dedication to his profession.
Jason most wished to be remembered as a fantastic uncle that unconditionally loved his nieces, Dana and Kelly, who gave him his greatest joy.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane “Janie” Evans and (husband, Ross). Surviving are his father, Norris Wayne Collier (wife, Rebecca); his sister, Dr. Norri Jan Collier; his brother, Mitch Wayne Collier (wife, Judy); his beloved nieces, Dana and Kelly Collier; nephew, Colby Hudson; and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church, Merry Hill, and will be conducted by Pastor Dennis Conner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends are invited to the church during the hour prior to the service for a time of viewing, and to the fellowship hall immediately following the graveside rites, where there will be a meal and time of visitation for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929-7127.
Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
