Jason Bass

October 1, 1952 — May 3, 2021

Jason Bass

Walter Gee “Jason” Bass, III, 68, of 5929 Rahnavard Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC, died Monday, May 3, 2021 in Waccamaw Community Hospital.

“Jason”, as he was known by his family and friends, was born in Tarboro, NC on October 1, 1952, and was the son of the late John Hubbard Bass and Hilda Bell Bass Baker, and step-son of the late Sam Baker. In addition to his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by other relatives, but most notably by his maternal grandparents, Annie and William Paul Bell, who were very special to Jason due to his father dying while he was still a young child.

A musician during much of his life, playing clubs with bands, Beach Music and happy tunes, he later began a second career as a salesman in the automotive industry, working with several dealerships in the Myrtle Beach area. The outdoors brought him much enjoyment, whether it was deep sea fishing for King Mackerel, competitive Archery targeting or hunting, or just the comradery of being with his fellow members of the Southern King Fish Association, it was “all good”!

Surviving is his wife, Diane Jordan Bass; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Bass and Jessica Kaye Bass, all of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Brenda Brickhouse of Ahoskie; and four grandchildren, Jared Michael Owens, Sierra Cheyanne Owens, Kaitlyn Ann Bass, and Justin Scott Bass.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, May 8th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Jordan Family Cemetery (near Happy Home Church) in Tyner. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite following the service.
