Janice Wright Barber

   Janice Wright Barber, 84, of 1313 Yeadon Road, Chesapeake, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

   Mrs. Barber was born in Chowan County, NC, on November 30, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Kenneth H. and Annie Wheeler Wright. Retired after 26 years as a Teacher’s Assistant with the Chesapeake Public School System, she was a member of Kingdom Life Ministries.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Lugene Barber; and by a granddaughter, Paula Hamilton.

   Surviving are two daughters, Donna Wester and husband, Joseph, of Plymouth, NC, and Haley Barber of Chesapeake; two sons, Lynn Barber, and Kenny Barber and wife, Angie, all of Chesapeake; two sisters, Joyce Guynes and Fay Wright; four grandchildren, Brian Crockett, Kevin Crockett, Kenny Barber II, and Mahlon Barber, Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Randy Wooden. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service.
