Janet Tyson Sperber

   Janet Lou Tyson Sperber, 86, of Buxton, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

   Born in Luzerne, KY on September 18, 1937, she was the only child of the late Morton Wiley Tyson and Mary Elizabeth Maddox Tyson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kerry Wayne Felty.

   Janet was raised in Luzerne, KY where she had a paper route and learned to play the piano. She studied nursing at Murray State University and worked as a Registered Nurse for a total of 53 years. An avid reader, she encouraged those around her to continue with education throughout one’s life. As an example, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University at the age of 62. She then moved to Anchorage, AK and continued to work as a RN until the age of 75. Janet loved to travel and experience new places. The mother of four children, she taught them to always do their best. She had a deep faith in God.

   Surviving is her husband, Seymour Sperber; her first husband, friend, and the father of her children, Jerry Felty; her three children, Kathy Felty McGuinness (husband Blair), Kelly Thomas Felty (wife Stacy) and Kevin Patrick Felty (wife Celia); a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Ozo Felty; nine grandchildren, Sarah Gedminas (Laurynas), Eric McGuinness, Christopher Felty, Knick Felty, Ryley Felty, Morgan Felty, Justine Felty, Jenna Felty and Jordan Felty; four great-grandchildren Vilius, Zemyna, Dovile and Gabija; as well as many dear friends and extended family members.

   A private graveside service will be held by the family. May she go to her resting place in peace.
