Jane Moore Suggs

  Jane Moore Suggs, 72, of 739 Arnold’s Beach Road, Roper, NC, died Monday, July 22, 2024, in her home where she was cared for by her family.

 Mrs. Suggs was born in Richmond, VA on August 23, 1951, and was raised in Windsor by her parents, the late Clyde Earl Moore, Sr. and Georgia Virginia Battle Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Judy Comstock (husband, Robert, deceased) and Jean Ward (husband, Edward, deceased), and by grandsons, Andre Charity and Chase Bateman.

 Retired as an Administrative Services Manager with the North Carolina Department of Corrections after 29 years of employment. A faithful member of Cape Colony Church of Christ, she also enjoyed the friendships established by her work in the Mid-County Ruritan Club, the Mid-County Volunteer Fire Department, the Washington County Meals on Wheels program, and the Washington County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

 Surviving is her husband of 21 years, Clyde Baldwin Suggs; her children, Rebecca Phelps Rickard (husband, Vincent) of Columbia, and James Michael Phelps (wife, Natalie) of Roper; her brother, Clyde E. “Buddy” Moore, Jr. (wife, Nanette) of Mocksville; five grandchildren, Austin Phelps (Vanessa), Courtney Phelps (Dylan), Brandon Charity, Karly Davis (Jonathan), and Braxton Bateman (Lauren); and four great-grandchildren, Blair, Kennedy, Carter, and Larson.

 Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 25th, at 3:00 p.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ and will be conducted by Pastor Greg Biggs. The burial will follow in St. David Episcopal Church Cemetery in Creswell. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
